BIOGRAPHY:
I moved to the South Hams at the end of 2012 after my involvement with the Olympic Sailing Team. This is a place I have loved since my annual holidays, as a young boy, visiting my grandparents in Marlborough.
Since qualifying as a chartered physiotherapist in 1988, I worked for an initial six years in the NHS. My career path then lead into the sports world when I started working at Lilleshall, the National rehabilitation Centre for elite athletes.

Alan Watson
Part of my role involved travelling the world with the England table tennis, hockey and squash teams. During my time with the national teams I traveled to Australia to complete a post graduate study in manipulative medicine and develop my main area of interest; the treatment and rehabilitation of ongoing or chronic spinal, general joint and muscle problems.
Leaving Shropshire in 2003 I moved South and combined private practice with working for the Great Britain Olympic and Paralympics sailing teams which included working as part of the medical team for the recent London 2012 Olympic games. Part of my role with the sailors was injury prevention and fitness in the form of exercise classes and stretching.
In my spare time I enjoy DIY and sailing.
I look forward to meeting you soon.

I went to Alan with shoulder and neck problems and I couldn’t of asked for a better service, the pain I was having gradually went with the treatment and exercises given, I would definitely recommend.Abi Grima Neck Pain Treatment
At last I found a physio who was pleasant, examined me thoroughly and explained what was wrong. He left me with advise and exercises to to help myself so as a working Mum I did not have to find precious time to keep returning. Good results as well!Katharine Johnston Back Pain Treatment
Alan has been a huge help and instrumental in getting back on full form after two separate incidents left me struggling. I suffered a repetitive knee injury which was preventing me from running, training and racing and Alan identified the problem, provided hands on work to the problem area and strengthening exercises to get me back on my feet and running at full strength again. Secondly following a car accident, which wrote my car off, I was suffering with a very painful and stiff neck which Alan was able to manipulate to ease the pain and enable me to make a full recovery. I would heartily recommend Alan to anyone as a very knowledgeable Physio who is great at explaining what the problem is and work you need to do together to get a positive outcome.'Richard Snow Sports Injury Treatment
“I came to see Alan with neck and back pain following a car accident. He was very professional and after a couple of visits I felt so much better. Highly recommended.”Elisa Chapman Pysiotherapy
"Alan was a huge support to me whilst going through intense rehab following a operation on my lower back. Alan's enthusiasm and experience gave me the confidence to get back to full fitness as soon as possible."Ben Ainslie Olympic Gold Medalist
‘I went to the physiotherapist Alan Watson (‘Totnes Physio’) at Chapel House Studios in Totnes, for some lower back pain after a period of inactivity due to ill health. I was really deconditioned and Alan really listened to me & examined me carefully and provided me with a full and complete programme of exercises that really helped me get back into shape. He was thoughtful and kind in his approach and the exercises really worked. What I liked was he even provided me with drawings of the exercises so I wouldn’t forget the key bits to remember to do whilst doing the exercises at home between physio sessions. I would recommend him highly and if I have a problem again I will be going back to Alan Watson at Totnes Physio’W.A Full Complete Physiotherapy Programme
